The Blog
Pet Lodge has closed.
If you haven’t been following my Facebook page @petlodgenz, you may not have seen some of my concerns about what may happen with the property after I leave.
Will electric collars return for already stressed dogs?
Will shade cloth — or ideally a proper roof — be installed over the big dog area?
Will the small dog area be rebuilt?
Will the drainage and pipes be upgraded?
Will the rusted main poles (currently held together with duct tape) be repaired?
Will the house ever be brought up to healthy home standards?
I have spent several thousands of dollars doing upgrades and maintenance to keep it running, money the landowner should have spent.
There is much more I could add, but there is little point. All I can do is hope that, for the sake of the community and the animals, the necessary upgrades will finally be made.
Who will train the next person that takes over? will they be trained by the person that knows nothing about animal behaviour in this enviroment? I might not have been the best with customer service but my skills with the animals was high level and that is what you are looking for.
There is legal action regarding the lease. We made an agreement November 2022, he changed his mind mid December and cancelled everyone's Christmas a few days before they were to go away, I stayed on, I pay rent and he didn't return it. The first part of the legal action is end of May 2026. I will keep you updated.
Thank you everyone for bringing me your fury friends to love and care for.
